For those of you who still don’t know, some time ago Publishing House “TRUD” bought the copy rights over the writings of some of the bulgarian classics. Not only they have bought it but also they started excersizing their powers as a media group to press and discourage the sharing of this works by the part of the law which is called “Fair Use”. The consequence of theirs desires and the unability of Viktor, the owner of BezMonitor.com (which is blind), to fight with this people, the works of these classic authors have been taken down. As a direct consecuences of this actions, a group of progressive people, decided to take the fight to a different level. The level of course is the Internet. A blog protest.bloghub.org has been founded, to serve as a tribune for their actions. After i stumbled upon the site, i decided to join their efforts. My actions were quite simple, writing letters and banning the access to my blog from the corresponding IP ranges. Today after some hunting here and there i found a wery nice way to block the access to my site. It is based on the WordPress extension called EasyBan. I took the liberty of modifying it a bit and enhansing it. The following new possibilities were added:
- Every ban can have its own redirection page
- Slight change and translation of the redirection page
- Possibility to ban networks
The modified extesion can be found right here. It is installed as every normal Wordpress extension.
